Scouting is a voluntary educational movement targeting young pupils in schools. It is a potent foundational base world over as it aims at nurturing boys and girls into dependable citizens. It helps inculcate values of responsibility, respect and commitment at a very young age. Our school has invested massively in this movement thus allowing many pupils discover and reinvent their abilities. Our scouts’ teachers and the zonal scouts’ commander have a well-structured training program that aims at improving the learners’ esteem hence boosting confidence and self awareness.
This year we resumed camping.
Camping brings scouts from all walks of life together and this propels our learners to grow in appreciating our diversity and uniqueness. Hikes and nature walks are also fertile endeavors as they offer fulfilling experience and knowledge. They remain true to their values which are well groomed, responsible, authentic, responsible, and hardworking, thrifty and compassionate. Scouts have duty to God, others and self.
During second school term, our learners left the school very early in the morning heading to Machakos County. Along the way, we were able to see the inselbergs as the road meandered between the valleys of the famous Mombasa Road. We used the ropes to pull up the young ones and some we carried on our backs until we reached the hill top.
There were series of fun activities from dancing, competition, bouncing castles, trampoline, merry go round, horse riding, car riding (mtego wa panya). It was all fun just to mention but a few. We reached the school safe and sound and we had a reason to thank our Almighty God for the safe travel.
