On October 8, Sr. Rosann Ocken was elected as 14th Prioress General of our Congregation.
M. Angela Strobel, who was Prioress General 2006 – 2018 presided over the election.
Sr. Rosann will succeed M. Maoro Sye, the present Prioress General.
Sr. Rosann was born in 1951 in Carroll, Iowa, USA. She entered the Missionary Benedictine Sisters in Norfolk in 1969, having first profession in 1972 and final profession in 1975. She studied at Creighton University, BS-Education and MA-Pastoral Ministry and received later a certificate in Spiritual Direction through the Yankton Benedictine Sisters’ program.
She has been an elementary school teacher, a campus minister, and served vocation-formation ministry
and as oblate director in the Norfolk Priory for about 12 years.
She gained much experience in leadership as superior in Wayne, prioress in Peramiho 2007 – 2015, and superior in Jinja / Uganda 2015 – 2018. Presently she is serving as prioress in Norfolk since 2018.
