On June 6 the Casa Community had to say good bye to Sr. Aquinata Böckmann,
as she moved to Haus St. Benedikt, the house for the retired missionaries.
It was not easy, as Sr. Aquinata had stayed in Rome more than 50 years
and had been one of the pillars of the community.
In the evening program sisters expressed their appreciation
for her great contribution to the community and the whole Congregation.
In a creative presentation the junior sisters showed, how Sr. Aquinata through her teaching of the Rule of St. Benedict made a difference to many people’s lives.
The Generalate members mentioned not only her teaching of RB and publishing of books, but also her service for the liturgy of the house, her constant help in dish washing and faithfulness in parlour duty,
thus living her teaching.
A movie looked back on the rich life of Sr. Aquinata from early childhood.
The blessing song sung by all community members for Sr. Aquinata
was a prayer for her safe travel and good adjustment in the new community.
At the end of the program, Sr. Aquinata shared her vocation story,
the difficulties she encountered in it.
Yes, it is only prayer, which can carry us through.
During the morning mass on Tuesday June 6…
Sr. Aquinata received a special blessing…
…and a farewell gift by our chaplain Fr. Thomas Bang, OMI.
And then it was time to say good bye.
