It is an old, even pre-Christian tradition to go around the fields to ask God’s blessing.
The Christians replaced the pagan custom by doing procession in the days before Ascension praying the Litany of the Saints.
We sisters in Rome, Casa Community and participants of the International Weeks of Encounter, followed this ancient tradition.
On Thursday, May 18 at 7 am before Holy Mass,
we processed through our garden around the house
singing the litany of the Saints,
asking them to intercede for us,
drawing down God’s blessing on our house,
our community and our garden.
