By the Grace of God, I am ready.

On January 20, M. Rosann Ocken, OSB was installed as the new Prioress General alongside the new General Councilors. The installation ceremony was presided over by the former Prioress General, M. Maoro Sye, OSB.

M. Maoro placed the pastoral cross ‘The PAX’ around M. Rosann’s neck, symbolizing unity under the one Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ, and handed over the Congregational seal, marking M. Rosann as the authorized representative of our Congregation. M. Rosann then officially assumed her new responsibilities.

The new General Councilors, Sr. Mary Thomas Prado, OSB, Sr. Katharina Mtitu, OSB, Sr. Philippa Kwak, OSB, and Sr. Marie-Therese Brodmann, OSB, were called to service. Together with the General Councilors, M. Rosann received the Congregation Constitutions, the Rule of St. Benedict, and the 14th General Chapter message. The new Generalate aims to rekindle the gifts of God that our congregation has been blessed with.

The Casa community raised their right hands in blessing while singing a ‘blessing song’ for the new Generalate. Although the entire Congregation could not attend the installation ceremony, it was a more meaningful event as the Casa community, comprising nuns from nine different nationalities, represented the entire congregation.

The installation ceremony concluded with a Benedictine ‘PAX’ during the hymn ‘Ubi Caritas.’ The joyful meal and brief celebration that followed were filled with gratitude and glory to the living Christ through the new Prioress General.
