Economy at the Service of Charism and Mission
Before the International Treasurers’ Meeting and as its preparation,
the financial council met for three days from September 15-18.
The 3rd International Treasurers’ Meeting was opened on September 20 with the theme:
Economy at the Service of Charism and Mission.
During the opening liturgy after imploring the Holy Spirit for assistance,
the participants were reminded of the history of financial administration in our Congregation
with its successes and failures.
M. Maoro welcomed the participants in her opening address
and highlighted the need to to arrive at more transparency and to correspond the Church’s wish to put our economy plainly in the service of our charism and mission.
The meeting will continue until September 30 with more input from sisters and experts, hearing the reports from the different priories and Generalate District Houses,
time for sharing and reflection and work in small groups.
The goals are:
1. Deepening the spiritual aspects of the role of a Missionary Benedictine Treasurer
2. Listening with whole heart the Church’s Social Teaching on Economy in facing the challenges of our mission today
3. Developing efforts of cooperation and collaboration by being one in mind and heart as a Congregation.
